July London All night Shoot

I did not intend for this to happen but I just want to take night shots again in July specially since the weather is a bit more consistent.

When: July 25-26, 2009 @ 6PM

Where: Cutty Sark Gardens, Greenwich

Sunset 25-07-2009 : 20.59
Sunrise 26-07-2009: 05.13

Itinerary:

Another change in itinerary. From Greenwich we will take the DLR to Canary Wharf. We have a permit for the Canary Wharf but we can only use 6 tripods at a time. Please be aware that this is a private property and you must not photograph building entrances, security cameras, loading bays etc.. Our permit is valid from 8.30pM to 11.30pm so we will sort out who can use the tripods first.

After Canary Wharf we will take the DLR towards Bank and walk from there towards St Paul’s Cathedral and head up to Leiscester Square. We aim to be at Chinatown at 3AM for a rest and some warm food. Then we will head out for more photos. We will shoot sunrise from the Victoria Embankmentor Westminster Bridge.

I will take the new Olympus E-P1 with me so those who want to play with it in between shoots.

On food: We will have some dinner in Greenwich then have some food at Hong Kong Diner or whichever have table for us.

Due to the unpredictable weather, please be prepared for rain and cold temperature. It is also very strongly advised to carry light gear and this I mean only one or two lenses. Please choose wisely.

Paris All Night Shoot 2009

Welcome to the second edition of the Paris All Night Shoot. Like before this event is for my fellow photographers to come out and take photos at night in Paris, France. This year’s meet will be on the 30th of May and we will have a different itinerary from last year. This time, we will capture sunset at La Defense and start the walk from Eiffel tower. From there we should be able to capture the popular parts of Paris brightly lit.

Participants from London are booking Eurostar train which departs from St Pancras at 16h25 and arrive in Paris at 19h47. If you want to join, please book the same train and stick with the group.

I will post full itinerary and details here one month before the date, please keep an eye on this page. Please note, only, registered users will be able to see and download the details.

To thank our French friends who will guide us, I would like to ask you to send in your £5 donation. This will be used to pay for their dinner.

Belgium All Night Shoot

I organised a photography meetup to Brussels (August 16-17). This is an All Night photography walk in the city with photographers from London. Unfortunately it is during my trip to Dover. So I took the train from Dover to London and meet up with the other photographers at the station. In all, there were 21 of us and I believe we all had fun except when we were waiting for our food at the Tapas Bar for more than an hour and when we cannot find Adrian. The second food stop made up for the first one and Adrian eventually found his way to us.

Flower Carpet on the Grand Place… the place was packed full!

The Tapas Bar in the city took more than an hour to serve us our food. It is dark, loud and we are hungry. To occupy ourselves, of course we took photos with and without flash. You can’t really tell 20 people with huge cameras who are hungry and must feed to sustain an all night walk. It was a lot more civilised when the food arrived. If you are in a hurry, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Next we went to take photos of the Atomium. It is 28 minutes tram from the centre of town but it was worth it. It is here we accidentally left Adrian.

This is a very flashy building standing beside the Sheraton. Photo was taken handheld.

Mystical: very nicely decorated restaurant and we were the only ones this night! I highly recommend it, just do not order pasta coz they are a bit too salty.

We stopped by the little peeing boy and even posed for a group photo!

London June All Night Shoot

The London all night shoot was held on the night of the 21st of June. It was a success with about 16 people who stayed up until the very early hours of the morning (the 22nd of June). The only time we were confronted by security personnel was when we arrived at Trafalgar Square and later on the southbank close to ITV and OXO tower. Same old tune, we cannot take photographs from their property specially commercial one even if we are not taking photographs of the building.

A winter All Night Shoot around London. We must be nuts right? No, we are not (maybe a little) This is a Flickr Meetup where we stay up all Night, walking and taking photos around London. Fortunately there are pubs open until 11PM on the way and bars and restaurants open 24hours daily so we will be able to have a warm stop if we want.
